The Development and Use of a Local Child Safety Education Clearinghouse.
Howze, Wendell M.
This practicum involved developing and implementing on a pilot basis a clearinghouse for resources on child safety education. The setting was a growing urban county in the Sunbelt. Project goals were to (1) locate local resources for child safety education; (2) establish a computerized database of the resources; (3) develop a system by which groups in the community could access the database; and (4) determine if, after the pilot implementation, continuation of the clearinghouse was warranted. All goals were met and evaluation results exceeded the minimum performance levels established for success in the project. Recommendations were made for continuing, improving, and expanding the clearinghouse. The project and its outcomes are described in five chapters and supporting documentation is appended. (Author/RH)
