This review of the literature on anxiety, stress, and their relationship to the concept of burnout among classroom teachers considers six major areas: (1) definitions of anxiety, stress, and burnout; (2) the major findings of research which demonstrate the prevalence of anxiety, stress, and burnout in classroom teachers; (3) the major findings of research which designate the symptoms of existing anxiety, stress, and burnout in classroom teachers; (4) the major findings of research which delineate the sources of anxiety, stress, and burnout in classroom teachers; (5) suggestions for stress management interventions which apply to school settings; and (6) a summary. Citations are taken from current books, educational journals, bulletins, dissertation abstracts international, magazines, and ERIC documents. A comprehensive list of references is included. (JD)
