Moped Rider Education.

This administrative guide is intended to assist those interested and involved in developing, administering, and teaching moped rider education in Iowa. It is divided into three parts. The first outlines the guide's purpose, presents the rationale behind moped rider education, and cites pertinent sections from the Iowa State Code and Iowa Administrative Code. Discussed in the second section are the following aspects of course organization and administration: sponsorship; liability; cost factors; student fees; student enrollment, performance, and evaluation policies; approved program standards (pertaining to teacher qualifications, public school and other programs, content- and time-base programs); approval procedures; certificates of completion; and moped driver's license application procedures. The third section, which constitues the bulk of the document, discusses the following topics: course content, instructional objectives, transparency/copier masters, teaching tips concerning transparency/copier masters, slides, teaching tips concerning slides, Code of Iowa reprints, Iowa Administrative Code reprints, audiocassettes, videocassettes, questions for determining a person's moped intelligence quotient, printed materials, other resources, use of mopeds for instruction, riding sessions, driver's licenses, financial responsibility, waiver forms, evaluation items, and program evaluation.
