This book was originally produced in England as part of a self-instructional package designed as an introduction to the course for the Certificate in Management Studies. The package includes a number of self-assessed activities and is expected to take about 20 hours to complete. The course materials are organized in three sections covering the following topics: (1) approaches to an understanding of management; (2) management activities--analyzing the job description; and (3) organizational structures. Each section contains objectives, information, examples, references to activities contained in an accompanying book of supplementary material, references to a required textbook and other sources, and conclusions.
