Michigan Library, Lansing.
Minimum standards are set forth for the 12 member libraries that currently constitute the Library of Michigan/Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (LM/LBPH) network to ensure that all LM/LBPH network libraries provide uniform, quality service to patrons in the service area. Introductory material includes listings of the Michigan Legislative Council members and alternate members, Library of Michigan Board of Trustees and administrators, the 1985 Committee to Revise the Standards for LM/LBPH Network Libraries, and LM/LBPH network libraries; and a map showing LM/LBPH library locations and the counties served. Standards are presented for the four broad areas of General Responsibilities of LM/LBPH to Network Libraries, General Responsibilities of LM/LBPH Network Libraries, Minimum Standards, and Ideal Standards. More specific topics addressed within each major category include: liaison, staff, registration/updating patron files, circulation, machine lending, facilities, collections, outreach, patron contacts, and volunteers. The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped's "Sublending Agency Service Agreement for Sound Reproducers and Other Reading Equipment" and the American Library Association's "Revised Standards of Service for the Library of Congress Network of Libraries for the Blind and Physically Handicapped" are appended.
