Results of the College and University Personnel Association's 1983-1984 Administrative Compensation Survey, which provides data on 99 positions, is presented. Questionnaires were sent to 2,856 higher education institutions, and 1,515 usable responses were obtained. Salary data indicate the median and the interquartile range for each position and are presented for: all institutions, public and private institutions, private religious institutions, theological seminaries, medical schools/centers, and traditionally black institutions. Salary data are also provided by: institutional classification, sector, full-time equivalent enrollment range, and institutional budget range. Additional Data compare median salaries of those who were promoted or transferred to their positions from within the institution and those who were hired from outside. Information is also presented on minority/nonminority status, sex, years of service, percentages of the chief executive officer's salary, the frequency distribution of all salaries for each position by type of institution, and comparative salary data for 1981-1984 for 518 institutions. Appendices include information on participating institutions, a questionnaire, and summary position descriptions. (SW)
