Implementation Guide for "An Integrated Vocational Education and Math Skills Model."
Corvallis School District 509J, OR.
This handbook provides guidelines for organizing a math equivalency credit program and for establishing criteria for awarding math credit for math instruction given in a vocational program. The first two sections discuss the issue of awarding math credit for instruction obtained in the vocational classroom and how to use the guide. Addressed in the section on program organization are criteria for selecting and approving a program for math equivalency credit, designing an equivalency credit process for approval, course sequences for math equivalency credit, the student registration process, procedures for maintaining quality, and course sequence requirements. The fourth section, which covers the applications of mathematical concepts, consists of a matrix of math applications by content unit (accounting, office occupations, and drafting) and a math equivalency checklist that is organized by the same three content areas. A list of resources comprises the fifth section. Appendixes to the guide include example pages of matrices showing applications by course, program area, and content unit; equivalency credit application; and a notice to staff regarding student registration procedures.
