Prepared for presentation to the Schenectady County Board of Representatives, this report provides an overview of the accomplishments of Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) during 1985 and of the changes, trends, and issues that will affect the future of the college. The first section provides information on SCCC's 5-year plan and framework of goals, including the institutional mission statement, and categories and subcategories for planning. The next section deals with program and curriculum issues, looking at SCCC's achievements in the areas of program evaluation, innovative curriculum development, program improvement grants, and facility improvement. Organizational development is then addressed, with a focus on computer systems development, organizational redefinition, and refinement of organizational communications. After explaining new student recruitment and enrollment management efforts and providing data on enrollments and student characteristics, the next section reviews student services activities, including expansion efforts, increases in financial aid awards, job placement services, articulation agreements with four-year colleges, and results of a graduate survey on employment and college transfer. SCCC's involvement with the community is the focus of the next section, which highlights employer needs assessment activities, community service planning, events to draw the community to the campus, and efforts to improve liaison with county agencies. Information on financial planning is provided, along with a discussion of future funding issues, and the structure and function of the newly formed, SCCC Foundation, Inc. Following a discussion of facility improvements and professional development activities, a summary is provided of the major achievements of the year. (EJV)
