The District of Columbia's Multi-Arts Service Program, in its third year of implementation (1984-85), is a multi-disciplinary program in music, dance, theater, and visual arts. The program's primary objectives are to (1) increase student awareness of the arts through assemblies, (2) increase student interest in the arts through lecture-demonstrations, and (3) increase student interest in pursuing the study of the arts through workshops. The assemblies, lecture-demonstrations, and workshops are developed and presented by teachers and students from Duke Ellington School of the Arts. The findings show that all objectives were reached, demonstrating the goal of providing students with increased awareness of and interest in the arts as a vital force in their lives through performance and participation.
