Staff Development and Desegregation: A Decade of Research, 1975-1985. An Annotated Bibliography.
Cooper, Arnold; And Others
This annotated bibliography highlights literature from 1975 to 1985 on the relationships between school staff development and desegregation. Desegregation has significant implications for staff development, and the usual forms of inservice training do not provide educators with the requisite skills needed to confront change. The materials cited are weighed more toward application than research, and the proposals and practices of practitioners are represented. The bibliography has 60 entries, listed by topic in chronological order, and is divided into three parts. Part I, "Inservice in Desegregated Settings," presents staff development as a method of response to desegregation, with strategies, models, and procedures. Materials in Part II, "The School District View," describe how school districts can marshall their staff development resources to prepare for desegregation. Part III, "The Classroom View," consists of studies that discuss instructional inservice models and training programs for a variety of school personnel. Each entry presents title, source, document type, and a short abstract. (KH)
