The Emporia State Model for Providing Research and Staff Development Services to Public Schools.
Ervay, Stuart
The purpose of the Emporia State University (Kansas) Center for Educational Research and Service is to provide research and staff development services to Kansas public schools. The Center was begun in 1982 to provide these services and to stimulate College of Education faculty to conduct research. Since 1984, the Center has expanded its mission. It now publishes materials for use by preservice students and field practitioners, miscellaneous reports and guides, and a journal of education. Specialized institutes provide both intensive training and follow-up services to field practitioners in curriculum development, staff development, and reading. The Center provides assistance with the preparation of grant proposals, and also gives annual awards to faculty members for exemplary teaching, service, and scholarship. Future goals of the Center include expanding it into the institute for Educational Excellence to provide more services to Kansas educators. (CB)
