Designed to provide information about the current status and future direction of Maryland's community college system, this report offers a summary and overview of all aspects of community college functioning in the state. Section I provides an organizational chart of higher education in Maryland; and data on undergraduate credit enrollments, and births and high school graduation rates. Section II provides data tables covering: 1985 credit enrollment by program area, student status, race, and residence; state-funded credit and equated credit full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment, 1981-1985; state-funded continuing education course enrollment, 1982-1985; FTE enrollment for state aid; and FTE students, registrations, and courses in non-state funded continuing education. Section III looks at student financial support in terms of dollar amount, type of support, and type of institution. Section IV provides tables and graphs showing degrees and certificates awarded, focusing on characteristics of recipients, types of degrees awarded, and trends. Revenue and expenditure data are presented in section V, broken down into cost of administering state aid, unrestricted revenues by source, contributions, and net cost per FTE. After section VI offers data on administrator and faculty salaries and fringe benefits, section VII provides information on physical facilities, space utilization, and capital construction state bond authorizations. Finally, section VIII presents tables showing tuition per 15-week term, 1986; and student-faculty ratio, 1981-1985; along with an organizational chart for the Maryland State Board for Community Colleges and a map of the state.
