Report of Educational Uses of Computers in New Jersey School Districts.
Walling, Peter J.
Based on information reported to the New Jersey State Department of Education in 1983, this report is intended to foster communication on educational uses of computers between and among school districts, county offices, and the department's central office. The first of four sections summarizes data from the department's Survey of Instructional Uses of Computers, including student to computer workstation ratios; district experience in using computers; student access to computers; and district staff training in computer literacy. Sections 2 and 3 present tables which indicate current district uses of computers for instruction and interests related to educational computing; data are reported separately for the elementary and secondary levels and special applications of computers. Identifying codes which indicate stages of computer adoption for each district are shown in both sections. Section 4 identifies individual district survey respondents and computer contact people for 508 districts, about 86% of the survey population. Three appendices contain the survey form, survey results by county and district community type, and community type and district factor grouping. (JB)
