A three-phase investigation served to identify, verify, and determine the importance of the competencies, and the categories within which they are clustered, on the Vocational Teacher Competency Profile for Microcomputer Applications. The 47 competencies and 5 categories were identified through a DACUM (Developing A Curriculum) activity during Phase I. The content of these categories and competencies was scrutinized, refined, and verified by vocational educators, teacher educators, and state staff members in Phase II. A national survey was conducted in Phase III addressing vocational educators nationwide who were expert in using the microcomputer in their respective disciplines. Ninety-seven respondents (72%) assessed the importance ratings for each competency and category on a five-point Likert-type scale. The ranges of mean ratings for the categories and competencies were, respectively, 3.74 to 4.18 and 3.38 to 4.61. These ratings documented that the level of importance of the competencies and their respective categories was in the above average to extremely important range.
