The purpose of this study was to compare "expert" and "practitioner" evaluations of research questions in health education. The "expert" respondents consisted of 21 health educators identified by a panel of experts as significant contributors to the field of health education. The "practitioners" consisted of 722 health educators. The respondents were asked to rate the research questions on the Likert scales of Importance, Desirability and Feasibility. Although the mean question rating between the two groups differed only slightly, differences between the groups emerged for 15 questions. The questions of greatest disparity between the groups concerned such issues as outcomes and expectations of school health programs, the need for community support for health education, important social-psychological factors associated with behavioral change, and the overall effects of health education. The highest rated question for the combined groups was: "How can we best measure our success and failure in regard to the effectiveness of health education methods and programs?"
