Academic Year. U.S. College-Sponsored Programs Abroad. The Learning Traveler, Vol. 1.
Cohen, Gail A., Ed.; D'Angelo, Diane, Ed.
A guide to help students select possible study-abroad programs is presented. The programs are sponsored by recognized U.S. colleges and universities during the academic year and offer U.S. academic credit. Most of the programs fall into three basic categories: (1) the program that combines study in a foreign institution with courses arranged for the group; (2) the program fully integrated into a foreign university or other university-level institution; and (3) courses taught by faculty of the sponsoring institution. Entries include the name and address of the sponsoring school and brief information on the following points: year the program was established; program location; dates and/or duration of the program; pre-session orientation locales and procedures; enrollment restrictions; fields of study; academic level; credits awarded; prerequisites; whether students attend regular academic courses at a foreign institution or special courses for foreign students, and/or courses arranged for the group and taught by U.S. and/or foreign faculty; teaching methods; language of instruction; housing; costs; scholarships; work/study opportunities; and program evaluation.
