Economic Literacy: An Instructional Guide for Vocational Education.

This instructor's guide consists of materials for use in helping vocational education students acquire basic economic literacy. Addressed in the individual units of the guide are the following topics: worker productivity, the free enterprise system, components of the economy, the consumer as a decision maker, small business functions, economic principles in the marketplace, economic stability and growth, economic concerns of the future, the world economy, the circular flow of economic activity, and economic measurements. Each unit contains some or all of the following: a list of topics covered in the unit, a list of objectives, a content outline that indicates the grade level (elementary, intermediate, or secondary) of each individual topic, suggested individual and group student learning activities, a newspaper and periodical report form, suggested curriculum references, and recommended periodicals to review for current economic issues and concerns. An appendix to the guide includes a brief discussion of the process of the identification and development of the economic literacy components included in the guide and a list of persons involved in the development effort.
