The purpose of this handbook is to help vocational education teachers improve the computer skills of their students. The handbook is divided into major sections that describe the concept, provide suggestions for development of the concept, and include a sampling of the variety of application-oriented activities appropriate to vocational education. Topics covered include computer hardware, computer software and software evaluation, computer-assisted instruction, computer-managed instruction, and strategies and methods for introducing computers into the classroom. Eight learning activities and a learning activity evaluation form are provided. The guide also contains a terminology list and lists of resources, such as journals and magazines, general books, resource centers and research projects, general interest sources, and special needs information sources.
