The Knowledge of Child Development Inventory.
Larsen, John J.; Juhasz, Anne McCreary
The Knowledge of Child Development Inventory (KCDI), which is appended, is a 56-item multiple choice test of knowledge of child development from birth to age three. Test items were based on authoritative materials covering the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development of young children. The KCDI was meant to be appropriate for use with young adolescents and lay populations such as parenthood education students. Normative data were obtained on the KCDI from a sample of 434 adolescent and adult females of varying backgrounds. The reading level was found to be 8.0, with a minimum of technical terminology. Test reliability was .93 and criterion validity was .83. A number of appropriate settings for administering this test were suggested. (Author/GDC)
