This resource guide provides educators with information about Middle East outreach programs, organizations, and publications. The first two sections present an introduction to the Middle East Outreach Council and an examination of the state of the art for Middle East outreach among universities, junior colleges, and small colleges; secondary and elementary schools; religious education groups; business groups; and the media. Material and human resources for teaching about the Middle East are identified and briefly described. The next section, "National and Regional Middle East Outreach Programs," provides addresses and phone numbers; a statement of philosophy, and a list of materials and services. The section, "National and Regional Organizations Related to the Middle East," represents a cross section of over 70 organizations, institutions, and corporations. Examples and sample agendas from nearly 20 conferences, seminars, and workshops on the Middle East are followed by a list of addresses, phone numbers, and publications available from over 70 Middle Eastern embassies and consulates. An annotated film sampler containing titles of over 290 films, most of which were produced in the 1960's and 1970's, follows. For each film, date, series number (if applicable), producer and distributor, rental sources, and a short description of content, quality, and audience level are given. Films are listed by geographic region, by topic, and alphabetically by title. Suggestions for reviewing educational films and a film education form conclude the section. (LH)
