The third of a three-part computer awareness program for grades K-9, this five-unit guide includes objectives, notes and explanations, and suggested activities for developing basic concepts, skills, and attitudes related to computer technology for grades 7-9. Student activity worksheets are included for each unit. Unit 1 covers computer operation, including use of keys, loading programs from cassette or diskette, and some simple troubleshooting techniques. Unit 2 discusses the physical components of a computer system. The third unit provides background on the development of computational devices and aids, and traces the development of computing aids to emphasize how rapidly computer developments are occurring. Unit 4 teaches computer programming as a vehicle for developing logical, sequential, and creative problem solving skills. The final unit discusses the advantages, limitations, uses, and implications of computer technology, and exposes students to basic applications and corresponding implications of computer use through a series of classroom activities and simulations.
