Data on degrees awarded in public and private colleges and universities in New York State for 1982-1983 are presented with attention to the race/ethnicity and sex of recipients, level of degree, and sector of the institution. Degrees conferred by 20 subject areas, racial/ethnic category, and sex of student are also reported separately. The number and percent of recipients of the following degrees are specified: associate, bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and first-professional. The following sectors are represented: public, public Regents college degrees, State University of New York, City University of New York, private, and proprietary. The racial/ethnic categories are: nonresident alien, Black, non-Hispanic; Hispanic, and other minorities (American Indian or Alaskan Native, and Asian or Pacific Islander). (SW)
