Measuring Changes in Salaries and Wages in Public Schools: 1985 Edition. ERS School Management Reference Series.
Educational Research Service, Arlington, VA.
This report provides data to evaluate salary and wage trends in education. The statistical measure used to gauge and compare changes in salaries and wages paid by school systems is the Composite Indicator of Changes (CIC). This measure is designed to reflect changes in much the same way as the Dow Jones Average or the Standard and Poor's Index. The purpose of the 1985 report is to aid in analyzing trends in average salaries and wages paid public school employees in six groups of personnel during 1974-1984. The report shows how local school systems can compile CIC data and includes a United States Department of Labor Consumer Price Index for comparison with the CIC. The CIC data are provided for 28 employee categories. The report includes 12 tables and 9 figures as well as 3 appendixes and a reference list. (MD)
