This publication makes available in one volume the major series produced by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Technical notes preceding each major section contain information on data changes and explain the services. Forty-four tables derived from the Current Population Survey (CPS) provide statistics on labor force and employment status, employment, unemployment, family relationships and earnings data, and state and area data. Special labor force data (annual supplementary data from the CPS), arranged in 22 tables, show work experience, multiple job holders, marital and family characteristics, work schedules and absences from work, and school enrollment and educational attainment. Twenty-seven tables derived from data from the monthly survey of business establishments (employees on nonagricultural payrolls) illustrate labor turnover and employment, hours, and earnings by industry and state. Other statistics provided are occupational employment statistics; productivity data; compensation studies showing occupational pay, general wage and benefit changes, and employment cost index; prices and living conditions illustrating consumer, producer, and import and export prices and consumer expenditures; unions and industrial relations, specifically work stoppages; occupational injuries and illnesses; and foreign labor statistics. In general, each table begins with the earliest reliable data and ends with 1982. (YLB)
