Teachers Guide for Entrepreneurship Instruction. Professional Development Series.
Ely, Vivien K.
This guide is intended as a resource for teachers of entrepreneurship courses. An introduction presents a case for entrepreneurship education at the elementary school, middle school, advanced secondary, postsecondary, and adult levels and recommends cross-disciplinary vocational education courses for entrepreneurship education. In section I a review is provided of the six steps in instructional planning as they apply to entrepreneurship: assess learner needs, identify learning outcomes, organize instructional content, develop learning objectives, select learning activities, and develop evaluation measures. Section II identifies resource people and materials for teaching entrepreneurship and provides suggested criteria for selecting resource materials. In section III, a 16-unit entrepreneurship teaching plan is suggested. Each unit makes suggestions for the following seven instructional components: target student, learning outcomes, key topics, learning objectives, learning activities, resources, and evaluation. Section IV includes an annotated listing of the resource materials referenced in the plan in section III. The resource materials are categorized into instructional modules, booklets and leaflets, books, and films/filmstrips. Complete listings are also provided of entrepreneurship periodicals and associations or agencies whose services are related to entrepreneurship. (YLB)
