Faculty Development of Teaching.
Linder, Fredric; Wittemann, K. Joseph
Results of the evaluation of a faculty development program for dental faculty are presented, along with a course outline. The purpose of the program is to help improve the teaching skills of new or recent dental faculty through two semester-long courses. The fall course consists of seven learning modules consisting of self-directed instructional activities and seminars. The spring course involves independent study. At the end of 15 weeks, fall 1981 and 1982 participants completed a course evaluation questionnaire, and module evaluation forms were completed by participants at the end of each learning module. The rankings (strongly agree to strongly disagree) are indicated for each of the questions of the course evaluation questionnaire and the module evaluation form. The evaluation forms covered the following learning modules: the teaching-learning process, instructional development, student assessment, the lecture, small group instruction, and one-to-one clinical teaching. The course outline indicates the content, objectives, and instructional activities for each of the modules. (SW)
