The "Arithmetic Teacher" was founded in 1954 by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics to serve the interests and needs of all who are concerned with elementary school mathematics. There were four issues of the journal in 1954, five in 1955 and 1956, six in 1957, 1958 and 1959, and eight in 1960 through April 1979. Since September 1979 the "Arithmetic Teacher" has been published nine times a year, from September through May. This cumulative index covers the last 10 years of the journal. Part 1 is an author index and part 2 is a subject matter index. (JN)
