Training Older Persons for Employment. The Job Training Partnership Act.

This booklet is designed to help organizations and individuals who are developing new training programs to become familiar with the provisions of the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) that apply to persons over the age of 55. In addition, the characteristics, abilities, and special training and employment needs of older adults are outlined. The first section of the booklet examines changing retirement trends. Summarized next are the basic provisions of the JTPA. Particular emphasis is placed on the provisions of the act that pertain to older adults. Guidelines are set forth for creating successful training programs. Covered in a discussion of core services are outreach and recruitment, individual assessment, career and personal counseling, development of job search skills, and job development and placement services.
