This guide explains the phases of the career education program at Great Mills High School (Maryland) as a means of helping other schools and school systems to initiate similar programs. Based on 4 years of experience at Great Mills High School, the guide provides career education activities for the 9th through 12th grades. The activities include career assessments, shadowing, internships, and in-school career and/or college research. These activities are broken down according to grade level and can be used separately or in a grade-by-grade progression. (Since the Great Mills staff, who wrote the guide, realize that maintaining funds and staff for this work can be difficult, many of the activities can be administered and coordinated by classroom teachers or guidance counselors in lieu of career education resource people.) Also included in the guide are ideas and guidelines for developing and making use of career resource centers and for developing community resource sites. (KC)
