School Crime Prevention: NOLPE's Role.
Rubel, Robert J.
School attorneys are primarily concerned with such issues as search and seizure, chain of custody, civil rights liability, and tort liability. Members of the National Organization on Legal Problems of Education (NOLPE) working within school districts can help reduce crime in the schools. NOLPE members could contribute to the clarity of thought and action of school districts in four areas: (1) conceptually separating crimes from disciplinary infractions; (2) promoting a crime analysis approach districtwide; (3) developing procedures for school contacts with police and courts; and (4) implementing systems that help ease the transition of detained or incarcerated youth back to the school system.
