This manual describes a program that recognizes and assesses all prior learning in academics as well as in life skills and recommends a variety of educational opportunities so that adult learners can prepare themselves to meet requirements for high school certification. Four major areas of the Lowell Adult Diploma Program (LADP) are reviewed: time of operation, eligibility, requirements for certification, and orientation and progression of candidates. Descriptions in terms of credits and requirements follow for each of three categories in which a candidate may receive credit in the LADP. The categories are academic, non-academic, and life skills. Other areas of the LADP operation are then considered: resources, record keeping, and staff. Appendixes include areas for credit, tests used, sample program forms, and specific duties and functions of staff. (YLB)
