This writing manual, designed for use in the Contemporary Issues in Science Program (CIIS), provides hints, recommendations, and techniques for writing papers, using reference works. Procedures and activities are presented to help students choose a topic, limit the topic, start a preliminary bibliography, locate references, gather notes, and use footnotes to document sources. Additional activities and information are provided related to writing style, revision and proofreading, and paper format. (JN)
