Comparison and Contrast: The 1980 and 1981 California State University and Colleges Freshman English Equivalency Examination.
White, Edward M.
The eighth and ninth administrations of the California State University and Colleges Freshman English Equivalency Examination, a test consisting of an objective examination graded by the Educational Testing Service and an essay examination scored by California State University and College faculty, are analyzed in this report. After a preface and short index of previous volumes, the first section of the report contains a summary and fact sheet describing the tests, their results, and studies being completed on the testing program. The next section recounts the actual administration of the tests. The two essay questions used in each test are covered in the five subsections of the next section. In the first four subsections a report from the question leader, the question itself, the directions to graders, and six sample student papers are given for each of the questions, while the fifth lists the essay readers for both years. Section four presents statistical reports on the two examinations. The report's five appendixes cover a variety of topics including the budget, course credit for the examination, and descriptive statistics for both examination years. (JL)
