This guide outlines a workshop that was designed to improve the skills of community college career counselors. The eight workshop sessions address issues identified in a 1981 survey of five community colleges and include: defining the counselor's role; multi-cultural counseling; tools, technologies, and assessments; counselor revitalization and counselor liaisons; apprenticeships and job futures: sources of funding; and team planning. Each session is organized around a goal statement, specific objectives, and content areas. Lecture materials, materials for overhead transparencies, small and large group exercises, and handouts are provided from each session. An extensive resource list (materials originally used in the workshop exhibit area) is included covering such topics as needs assessments, career instruments and assessments, special populations, and state and national resource agencies. An appendix provides a listing of special project proposals (1981-82) and special projects funded (1980-81). The participant's guide is also included. (MCF)
