Employment-Related Child Care.
Galpern, Lois; Hills, Tynette W.
The two major sections of this report discuss issues in employer-sponsored child care, specifically describing four child-care service alternatives. Issues emphasized in the discussion include the advantages of employment-related child care, financial considerations, and implications of various forms of sponsorship. Additional issues discussed are the rationale for employment-related child care, child care tax benefits for employees, and community resources to help provide employment-related child care services. The four service alternatives described include employer-sponsored child care centers, employer-subsidized child care services, support services for employees with children, and fringe benefits and employee assistance. Several examples are given of the child care service alternatives discussed. In addition, briefly addressed in the report are the need for child care centers, factors associated with successful employment-related child care centers, and employment-related child care in New Jersey. Resources for obtaining additional information and assistance are mentioned, and an annotated bibliography of related readings is appended. (RH)
