Training in Human Relations. Leadership Pamphlet #16.
Adult Education Association of U.S.A., Washington, DC.
This pamphlet on training in human relations is the sixteenth of 16 in a series to provide leaders in adult activities with sound introductory material to give practical help in using a method of adult education or working in a particular area. Its objective is to provide a case history of a human relations institute, outline the procedures for conducting such a course, and describe leadership qualities and how to develop them. Six articles and how-tos are included. An introduction discusses the benefits of a three-day human relations training institute and some feasible objectives for one. "Human Relations Training Institute" presents a case history of a human relations training institute held at Valley City. "Meeting the Trainee's Needs" focuses on developing an effective training program that changes to meet the needs of the trainee whose need for change changes as training progresses. The planning phase of the training institute is the subject of "Planning and Staffing." Checkpoints for planning are discussed, and tasks of the sponsoring committee are set forth. Characteristics of the successful trainer are enumerated in "Selecting and Training the Trainers." The final article, "Leadership: The Art of Developing People," looks at how to apply human relations training to the everyday job. (YLB)
