This module on the nervous system is one of 17 modules designed for individualized instruction in health occupations education programs at both the secondary and postsecondary levels. It is part of an eight-unit miniseries on anatomy and physiology within the series of 17 modules. Following a preface which explains to the student how to use the module, the unit consists of a pretest with answers, four sections (information sheets) with their objectives (e.g., describe the general organization of the nervous system), optional activities (e.g., investigate spinal cord injuries and the different results of injuries at different levels of the cord), and posttests, and a glossary of terms. Topics covered in the unit are introduction to the nervous system, nerve impulse conduction, the central nervous system, and the peripheral nervous system.
