Intended to answer questions regarding public schools in Washington, this handbook provides an overview of the organization and financing of the state's public school system, grades K-12. Included are brief descriptions of the Basic Education Act, the basic education allocation formula, how state and local funds are included in this formula, and how other funds are distributed to and received by school districts. One chapter deals with building fund revenues. How education is organized at the state and the school district level is touched on, with brief explanations of the board of education, educational service districts, and local school districts. A final chapter presents an overview of the actions taken by the 1981 legislature. (Author/JM)
