Teacher Education and Mainstreaming. Special Report. Pennsylvania Deans' Projects.
Ward, Marjorie E., Ed.; And Others
Five Pennsylvania schools of education formed a committee for the purpose of sharing their experiences in incorporating mainstreaming concepts into teacher preparation programs. This report documents their most successful efforts in pre- and inservice training. The first section presents the background of the Deans' Projects and offers guidelines for programs designed to train teachers to work with handicapped students. Eleven mainstreaming competencies for teachers are set forth in the second section. Section three contains a bibliography of publications, references, and resource materials that the members of the committee found useful. In section four, selected outcomes of the five projects are described. The activities and courses are in the areas of community education, competencies, communications, materials development, and resource centers. The names of each of the five participating schools are listed in the fifth section with brief project descriptions, and the name of the contact person. (JD)
