Aging Education for the Junior High/Middle School Years.
Myers, John W.
This publication for middle- and junior-high school students contains teaching units on aging. The units themselves are not intended to be immediately usable in the classroom. They require the teacher to first learn something about aging. The units require tailoring to specific classroom situations. The first five sections contain units for the following disciplines respectively: English, social studies, science, mathematics, and physical education. Each unit contains a general introduction to the topic of aging, objectives which a unit on aging should cover, procedures to use, suggestions for learning activities, and sample evaluation instruments. Bibliographies of print and nonprint materials are interspersed throughout. Some examples of activities follow. Students read and discuss biographies of men and women who were productive and creative in their final years. They interview aged persons, take field trips, and view films. (Author/RM)
