This manual provides a course outline and pre-test, as well as behavioral objectives, class handouts, exercises, and their keys for each of the ten sessions in a one-credit undergraduate library skills course offered by the State University of New York at Albany Library. Sessions include: (1) general course introduction and facility orientation; (2) card catalog and Library of Congress classification; (3) narrowing the topic and search strategy; (4) compiling and annotating subject bibliographies; (5) identifying, using, and evaluating reference materials; (6) periodical indexes; (7) newspaper indexes and microfilm; (8) government publications, Monthly Catalog of Government Publications, and Readex Microprint; (9) Congressional Information Service (CIS), American Statistics Index (ASI), and state and international documents; and (10) online systems in the library.
