The result of a survey of barrier related literature, research, studies, and legislation completed or in progress, the resource guide lists approximately 1,500 citations regarding barrier free access for disabled persons. Bibliographic information (date, title, author, ordering and price specifications, pagination); descriptors; and a brief annotation are presented for references in nine major areas (sample subareas in parentheses): architecture (housing, public buildings, kitchen and acoustic barriers); transporation (transit systems, bus, auto and van); parks and recreation (outdoor facilities, playgrounds); standards, legislation and legal matters (national standards, federal and state legislation, litigation); general statistics and human factors research (ergonomics); disabilities by type (mobility, hearing, and sight impairment, aging and related disabilities); attitudes (of professionals, handicapped persons, elderly persons, the public); aids and devices (kitchen and homemaking aids, special vehicles and controls); and information resources and audiovisual aids.
