People Times. Conversation Games, Volume I.
Fordham Univ., Bronx, NY. Graduate School of Education.
This is one of three volumes of instructional games devised to further the development of childrens' listening, logical thinking, problem solving, and effective oral communication skills. The games are designed to create a relaxed, informal setting in which teachers can encourage and support children's natural speech and provide language activities that have relevance to children's own experiences and other real life situations. The games in this volume are intended to stimulate the conceptual skills of question asking, remembering, verifying, and inferring and the social skills of listening to and exchanging information with other players. In addition to descriptions of 13 games, the manual contains suggestions for content area applications of the games, a conversation games checklist for evaluation, and suggestions for correcting practices shown by the checklist to a need improvement.
