Make Math Merry - I: An Instructional Activities Guide for Teaching Basic Mathematics Skills in Grades 3, 4, 5.
Brady, Sue; And Others
These materials were designed to help remedial students increase mathematics proficiency on topics found in the Regents Competency Testing Program. The activities developed come complete with questions, "cards," and/or sample gameboards. Included in each activity is a list of materials needed. Several different activities often use the same materials with slight modifications. The materials do not include any type of evaluation or testing program, as it was felt that teachers should tie in related remedial activities with their own classroom diagnostic testing. These activities are designed to help in the remediation of mathematics in conjunction with commercially available materials as a supplement to the basic curriculum. A coding system listed in the table of contents is designed to identify the following specific operations and skill areas found in each activity: Place Value, Rounding, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Problem Solving, and Fractions. The general grade range for this set of materials is three through five. (MP)
