Mud and Stars. Personnal Constructs, Sensitization and Learning.
Riley, P.
An alternative method of language learning is proposed based on the theory of "Personal Construct Psychology." It is suggested as a resolution of the impasse that seems to exist between linguistic and psychological theories of learning. Certain techniques are offered to enable learners to exteriorize their cognitive categories and their own learning modalities and processes. These techniques are considered to be of interest not only to teachers and methodologists who are interested in the learning process, but also to learners who would like to improve their learning capacity. After the presentation of the more theoretical aspects of the proposal, a language learning technique, sensitization, is examined and examples are given. (Author/AMH)
