This series of nine brief reports summarizes the initial findings and activities of a project undertaken by Washington State and the Center for the Study of Community Colleges to examine and enhance the humanities within Washington's 27 community colleges. Report number 1 rank orders 12 humanities disciplines according to the number of credit courses and sections offered at the colleges during Fall 1979. Report number 2 examines the following characteristics of humanities faculty members: ethnicity, full-/part-time status, and highest degree earned. Report number 3 discusses the promotion of the humanities by the colleges, focusing on publicity, student recruitment, and faculty involvement in community service. Report number 4 presents a synopsis of the activities of a practitioner workshop, during which campus project funding and the use of humanities advisory committees were discussed. Report number 5 examines the opinions of humanities faculty toward the state of the humanities at their colleges, and Report number 6 contains Arthur M. Cohen's address to the inaugural meeting of the Washington State Humanities Project. Report number 7 details the outcomes of a workshop held to assist practitioners in writing funding proposals. Report number 8 examines enrollment in humanities courses during Fall 1980. Finally, Report number 9 summarizes the activities of a workshop on the role of the humanities in vocational education. (JP)
