Comparative Summary of Degrees Awarded by Institutions of Higher Education in the State of Montana, 1978-79 and 1979-80.

Data about degrees awarded at Montana colleges and universities for 1978-79 and 1979-80 are presented. Data indicate that there was an increase in all categories of degree awards except associate degrees and that bachelor's degrees account for approximately 75 percent of all awards. Units of the Montana University System award 87 percent of degrees. For associate degrees, community colleges award 47.5 percent, while units of the Montana University System award 42.5 percent, and private colleges 11.8 percent. Both the numbers of degrees by level and the percent distribution of awards are indicated. Information is also presented by institution for the Montana University System, private colleges, and community colleges. For each level or type of degree, data are provided by the field of study undertaken by the degree recipients, by the sex of the degree recipient, and by ethnic characteristics of degree recipients. Trends in degrees granted in the Montana University System from 1970-80, and trends in degrees granted in private and community colleges from 1975-80 are also indicated. (SW)
