An Advanced Course in Bengali.
Bender, Ernest; Riccardi, Theodore, Jr.
This course for a third year of study of Bengali at the university level is divided into three parts. Part I consists of a review grammar and reading texts and is divided into eight chapters, which present a review of the script; grammatical discussions with examples, exercises, and readings with notes and questions for oral discussion; and a key to exercises and English translations of reading passages. Part II consists of 22 selections from Bengali prose literature of the last two centuries. Part III consists of 21 readings in the humanities and social sciences. The material in the course is set forth in such a fashion that the student may choose only those sections that apply to individual needs. (Author/JB)
