Post-Release Experiences of Students From State Correctional Institutions. Volume 3: National Evaluation of Title I Programs in State Institutions for Neglected or Delinquent Youth.
Pfannenstiel, Judy C.; Hoyt, James L.
This study (one portion of a larger study) was designed to describe the post-release experiences of former institutionalized students who received Elementary and Secondary Education Act Title I services. The sample consisted of approximately 200 students from eight correctional institutions. Data were collected through interviews with the students. The findings of the study addressed the issues of school reentry, employment success, subsequent offenses, and reinstitutionalization. Pre-release and post-release services the students had received and the impact of those services upon their success in readjusting to the community are also discussed. Tables of data are included and appended. (Author/MK)
