New York State Programs of Postsecondary Opportunity, 1977-78 and 1978-79.
New York State Education Dept., Albany. Bureau of Higher Education Opportunity Programs.
A continuing objective of New York State has been to provide equal access to postsecondary educational opportunity. To meet this objective the State has provided resources for special programs in postsecondary institutions for persons who have been academically and educationally disadvantaged. The four separate programs that serve the needs of this target population are: (1) College Discovery; (2) Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge; (3) the Educational Opportunity Program; and (4) the Higher Education Opportunity Program. This report, which displays and compares data from the 1977-78 and 1978-79 annual reports of all participating equal education programs, was submitted by the State Board of Regents in compliance with the requirement that comments and recommendations be made for the improvement of the programs. Included in this report are data regarding enrollments, student characteristics, campus instructional and support services programs, program staff, courses of study, student achievement, graduation and retention, and program financing.
